Audrain County is northeast of Columbia, reached up through Centralia or out Highway 54, and it has a housing stock that surprises people who have never driven it. Mexico, the county seat, has streets of substantial older homes — brick, deep porches, real scale — alongside a downtown square and business frontage. Vandalia, Laddonia, Farber and Martinsburg are smaller, and between all of them is some of the flattest, most open farmland in our service area, where a lit farmstead can be seen from a very long way off.

Are the big old houses in Mexico worth a full outline?

They are among the most rewarding installs in the region. Substantial older homes have the thing that makes lighting look expensive: strong, legible architectural lines. A full roofline outline plus the porch on a house like that does not need a single extra gimmick, and it will be the best-looking thing on the street.

What works on flat, open country?

Scale and simplicity. When the nearest neighbour is a quarter mile away and the sightlines are open, fine detail disappears and only the big shapes read. Outline the house cleanly, light one large tree or one shed gable, and leave it there. A lot of small fussy elements just turn into a smudge at distance.

Do you charge extra for the drive?

We would rather group your job with others in the county than pile a travel charge on top. If you are the only booking out there in a given week the scheduling gets harder, not the pricing — so the useful thing you can do is tell your neighbours, and we will get everyone done on one run.

Do you cover businesses on the highway?
